La Concha A Renaissance Resort

Location: San Juan
Brand Affiliation: Renaissance Hotel and Resorts

Originally opened in 1958, La Concha quickly became a lifestyle and architectural icon in Puerto Rico. As part of the original Condado Trio, the hotel shut down in 1995. A group of investors bought La Concha Resort and IHE was given the opportunity to add it to its management portfolio. A need for a hotel representing the hip, young, latin and modern lifestyle was identified. When the reposition strategy was completed, the search for ideal affiliation match started. That match was found in the Renaissance Resorts brand.

After a $220 million renovation, La Concha Resort’s original structure was re-opened in December 2007. A new all-suite tower soon followed in 2010. The re-design, along with the architectural preservation, catapulted the hotel into success and also aided the Renaissance brand on its new identity.

Among its accolades, La Concha Resort was selected as one of the Top 21 Hottest Caribbean Escapes by The Travel Channel, recognized as one of Architectural Digest’s Top Ten and chosen by Condé Nast Traveler as Puerto Rico’s hottest luxury hotel destination. Also, Marriott has recognized it with awards in sales, revenue management and operations in the America Region. Currently, La Concha Resort is being featured by the Renaissance brand on their global marketing campaign and it ranks #4 among all San Juan Hotels on Trip Advisor.
